Unbelievable!

Several things to post about which are out of the ordinary.

1. At Samuel's chiropractic appointment last week, we saw a wild turkey walking around the parking lot. He was pulling off leaves from a small tree between the strip mall stores and the bank building next door. Then he walked along the edge of highway K before returning to the storefronts of the strip mall. The receptionist told us that he showed up the day after Thanksgiving and has stayed ever since. Jonah responded that "it's too bad I don't have a knife, because I would just stab him and take him home for you to cook, mom." And I replied, "Well, that is WHY you don't have a knife yet, son!" Imagine Jonah trying his hand at harvesting a turkey by jumping on him in the middle of a parking lot while shoppers look on bewildered! Yeah, plus Joshua mentioned it's ...well ILLEGAL to stab a turkey, for the purpose of taking it home to eat, in the parking lot of the Wellness Connection in O'Fallon.

2. While butchering the venison this weekend, which has been dry-aging this past month, Joshua found a bullet. At first he thought it was his bullet. Upon further inspection, he realized it was another hunter's bullet. All it received from me, was "huh." To him, and other experienced and appreciative hunters this is very cool, and doesn't happen very often.

3. I lost all 30 pounds gained in pregnancy three weeks after delivering! Now if I could lose the 10 extra pounds I had not lost from the previous two sons...that would be great!

4. At the risk of sounding like the mom who say's her four-year-old reads at a sixth grade level...Samuel rolled over and held his head up since the day after birth, and at four-weeks-old he crawled off his blanket on the floor. He scrunched up and used crawling motions to inch his way off the blanket about a foot before being exhausted and angry. I don't mean to say he is rolling and crawling all day long; however, this is just so different from the other kiddos. He is amazingly strong. It will probably be the same time frame for crawling around and rolling across the room as the others, but he started unbelievably early on these milestones. I wonder if this is foreshadowing a strong will to contend with?

We are enjoying a fire on this beautiful and freezing cold morning. Samuel is doing much better since receiving his adjustments from the chiropractor, Dr. Whitney Hamed. She has also been surprised by his strength and pleased with how well he has responded. His colic symptoms are lessened, and we are starting to get more smiles and calm times to get to know him. He spends less time in the bathroom sleeping with the exhaust fan on! He also had really horrible ezcema all over his face. It took me a few tries to find the right cream and wash, and now he looks like himself again. So if you have been wondering where are all the pictures...well they all looked the same...crying and red-faced so there weren't many. I have a few now to post where you can see expressions. Enjoy the photos.

Here is pretty much the first few weeks of life.

Unless he was doing this.

This is one of his two favorite places. Go ahead and laugh, my baby is sleeping in the bathroom with the exhaust fan on. Bassinetts with wheels are cool!

This is his other sweet spot. The vibrating bouncy chair has been my saving grace with this little guy.

"Hey there...how you doin?"

This is the first time he liked the swing, and he even noticed the toys.

"Um...I still don't know about this place yet."

"Come closer, I didn't quite hear you."

"Did she say there is no more chocolate?"

"This isn't going to work out at all. I NEED CHOCOLATE!"

OK, things are better now...but that was pretty rough for a while.
